2. Overview

BarCount is a blood alcohol estimation app that works entirely offline on your smartwatch (Apple Watch or Wear OS). Your privacy is very important to us.

In short: your data stays on your watch. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on our servers.

3. What data is processed in the app?

The following data is stored and processed exclusively on your device:

Personal details: Age, weight, height, gender - used to calculate estimated BAC using the Widmark model / Watson formula
Drink logs: Type, amount, and time of consumed drinks
Preferences: Language, preferred BAC unit, favorites, notification threshold, display preferences

4. Data transmission

BarCount transmits no data to external servers, cloud services, or third parties. The app works entirely without an internet connection. There is:

No account / no registration
No cloud synchronization
No analytics or tracking services
No advertising
No data sharing with third parties

5. Data storage & deletion

All data is stored locally on your device in an encrypted database (SwiftData on watchOS, Room on Wear OS). You can delete all data at any time through the app's settings ("Delete All Data"). When you uninstall the app, all stored data is automatically removed.

6. Permissions

Apple Watch (watchOS)

UserDefaults: For storing user preferences (language, units, etc.)

Wear OS (Android)

WAKE_LOCK: To allow background calculations to complete
POST_NOTIFICATIONS: For optional notifications (e.g., when BAC drops below a threshold)
VIBRATE: Haptic feedback when logging drinks

7. Website

This website (barcount.app) is statically hosted and uses no cookies, no tracking, and no analytics services. No personal data is collected.

8. App Store & Google Play

When downloading the app through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, the respective privacy policies of Apple or Google apply. We do not receive any personal data in the process.

9. Minors

BarCount is not intended for persons under the age of 18. The app is rated accordingly on the App Store and Google Play Store.

10. Your rights

Since we do not collect or store any personal data, the typical data subject rights (access, deletion, etc.) do not apply to us. All data is exclusively on your device and under your control.

11. Changes

We reserve the right to update this privacy policy as needed. The current version is always available at barcount.app/privacy.html.
